Dispatches from the Distancing – Days 119-132 AND Saturday Snapshot

It’s been two week since I last posted and I have to admit that I’ve been spending some time during the past 2 weeks evaluating things. For the past eight (!!) months, I’ve been viewing things as temporary. While I don’t think that things are permanent, I don’t think we can call it temporary. Now, when I look at things, I think of them in terms of the foreseeable future.

How does that affect this blog? Honestly, not by much other than it sort of frees my thoughts a bit. Instead of talking about how things aren’t like they used to be, I’ll have to focus on how they will be in the future.

But it will have one impact on this blog. This will be my last Saturday Snapshot post. I’ve been hosting this hop for a number of years and I’ve enjoyed it until recently. Things have dwindled, understandably, and I’ve noticed that while I have a small handful of legitimate participants, most of the entries are just spam entries. As I am paying for the service to host the link up, this is not worth my money.

It’s also disheartening during this time to try to scrounge for pictures. Until March, I could almost always just post pictures from something that happened during the week. Now I rarely have anything new to post.

If someone would like to take this hop over, please let me know and I will gladly direct traffic to your site. I may even participate in the future. And, who knows? I may start this up again in the future. For now, though, it has come to an end.

So, I’ll end it with pictures from Halloweens past. This year, the kids aren’t even dressing up and we’ll put out a bowl of candy for whatever trick or treaters may show up while we watch scary movies with my brother-in-law, whose Halloween visit is the one tradition that has survived this year. If we are past the pandemic next Halloween, I’m sure it will be the Halloween to beat all Halloweens. This year, however, will be much more subdued.

I’ll continue to post as usual here…there just will no longer be the Saturday Snapshot. I do hope my SS friends will continue to stop by!
