Another week gone and the last week of “summer.” I put that in quotes because “fall” is…different…this year.
In a normal year, the kids would start school on Tuesday. However, 2020 is anything but a normal year. For that first week, it will be a “soft” start where the teachers will be contacting families and making sure that everything is set up for learning to start the next week. Then, the kids are at home until early November at the very earliest.
I’ve warned the kids that we will be using the soft start week to practice getting up on time and getting into the school swing. I have at least Lillie’s daily schedule (I’ll have Chris’s next week), so I’m going to try to start incorporating that. I’m hoping that the school doesn’t do something crazy like give the kids wildly different lunch times. I’m also not sure how things like PE and Music will be handled, but I guess we’ll see.
If nothing else, 2020 is teaching us all how to adapt.
Anyway, not that much to report from this week. The one exciting thing we did was take the kids to the zoo on Monday. You have to reserve a time to go, as the only let a certain number of people in at a time. The good news with that is that the zoo is not crowded! The bad news is that you are sort of restricted on where you can go and you have to follow predetermined directions. Because of this, we weren’t able to get over to see the seals–but we saw the elephants instead and they, especially two of them, put on quite a show. If you ask Chris what the elephants were doing, he’d tell you they were dancing. We’ll just leave that there.
So, for this week’s Saturday Snapshot, I bring you zoo pictures. Sadly–or fortunately (you decide)–I wasn’t quick enough to get a picture of the two “show-off” elephants. Sorry to disappoint!
Anyway, that is it for this week. Have a wonderful weekend and, if have Monday as a holiday, I hope that you are able to do something fun!
