Just a quick post for tonight as I want to try to get to bed early. It was a scorcher today–over 90 degrees. We ended up not changing anything for the peak hours. As Pat pointed out, we would not save enough money by shifting our energy use to warrant getting take out for dinner. Sorry, but it is the truth!

Pat and I did put up our new patio umbrella on our outdoor table today, so I was able to spend some time in the backyard before it got too hot. Of course, Alice the cat had to cause trouble by (ironically) not causing trouble. When I went to go inside, I couldn’t find her even though I know she had been right by me only a minute before. I called her, a shook the treat bag, and nothing. So I figured she must have gotten out of the backyard. So, Lillie and I took turns walking the neighborhood at the hottest time of the day trying to find her. On my third time out, I noticed something white under our fence coming from our backyard. Yep. that darn cat had been in the backyard the whole time! Sigh!

Pat and I watched Knives Out this evening–if you haven’t seen this movie, you must do so! It’s currently streaming on Amazon Prime, so it is easy to find. It has been a long time since I enjoyed a movie as much as I enjoyed this one. It’s sort of comic, Americanized Agatha Christie-style story with some pretty big names. We had wanted to see it in the theater, but just never got around to it. But, honestly, I’ve gotten to the point where I prefer to watch movies at home (as long as 3D glasses aren’t required).

I leave you with a picture of Chris taken today. He’s slightly red, but not from sunburn. Our new umbrella is red!
