Dispatches from the Distancing – Day 83

Well, we’ve reached 50% summer. As of 11:30 this morning (but really at about 10am) Chris was done with school for the year. It’s bittersweet because I wanted him to have the full experience with his teacher, but I guess he’ll never forget his 3rd grade year now.

And how did we celebrate? Well, I put him to work for dinner. Actually, he has a few things to do for some Cub Scout advancements and one of them is to help plan, prepare, and clean up a meal. He chose tacos, so that is what we had tonight!

As I said, Lillie has one more week of school left and I think they are going to keep her working until the last day! Not that either of us mind, though. She really enjoys school and is self-motivated. Public school has proven to be the kind of challenge she wanted and needed. We are a little anxious about what September will bring and if school will look anything like what it has been in the past, but Lillie is pretty good about rolling with the punches. Plus, we made it through this spring, I’m sure we can make it through whatever fall brings.

So, that was the excitement today…which really wasn’t all that exciting, but oh well. Sometimes I’m amazed that such an extraordinary time can be so boring.
