I sat down to write 2 posts and then I realized that I should just combine them and save myself some work. So, here you go!
We’re now 4 weeks into this weird time and a phrase I keep hearing is “the new normal.” I’m not sure how I feel about that. On one hand, it’s somewhat comforting that this is just..normal. On the other, I really don’t want this to be normal. I want to be able to go to the store and see people and not have to think about whether or not there is room for me to allow six feet between myself and someone else if I go walking. I don’t want to have to remember to wash my hands right after getting the mail or have a shop clerk leave my bag on the sidewalk so that I can walk up and get it and put it in my car.
In other weird news, when this all started I decided this would be when I did my The West Wing rewatch. That has now morphed into a re-watch of My Cat from Hell. It’s just more comforting and the fact that The West Wing is stressful is just a truth I don’t want to contemplate. The Good Fight is back on and I haven’t started the new season yet, but I’m hoping that one is at least cathartic.
Today’s schooling was better than I expected. It helped that Chris’s workload was a little lighter than normal. On Monday, the situation is reversed–Lillie has school and Chris is off (or would be). Since Lillie finishes her work early anyway, I think I’ll just keep Chris busy until Lillie is done and then set them loose. On Wednesday, Lillie’s school will be shifting a bit. Until then, the focus for the public school students is to not let them fall behind. On Wednesday, it becomes more forward–instruction of new material and such. I’m hoping that she finds that more challenging because this has all been pretty easy for her so far.
Anyway, onto this week’s pictures. If you’ve been reading my dispatches, you’ll remember that I wrote that we took a family stroll at the a nearby wetlands last night. It was a beautiful spring evening and there was barely anyone else there (making it easy to social distance). And, of course, I took pictures. Enjoy!
This is not normal. It can’t be. I hope we’ll come back to normal soon.
Happy Easter
