Today made one thing clear: Stir craziness is real. The kids were bouncing off the walls and it was exciting to go pick pick up a grocery order. Yes, that is what we are living with now.
I took some time to put together a “school schedule” for when Monday arrives. We’ll still be freestyling the homeschool thing with Lillie, but Chris will have actual assignments again. I may have to tweak the schedule, but I felt that it was best to have something to start. The basic format is 30 minutes of “work”, 15 minutes of app time, and 15 minutes of free time–with some longer stretches for “active” time and such. This is going to be an adjustment for all of us so, you know, prayers please.
Today, however, the kids had far too much screen time–which is okay. They’ve had to spend their entire Spring Break not just “at home” but literally in the house, and that’s no fun for anyone. Although they did try to find fun when they could…
Back to the grocery order (I told you it was the highlight of my day!), there were only a few things out of stock, so we are good for at least a week. Personally, I think doing grocery pick up is just a better idea than going into the store right now, although the grocery store parking lot was packed when we went for our pick up. Anyway, I’m planning to put an order in mid-week to pick up next Saturday, which means I actually have to meal plan. Sigh…
Tonight, though, we did grill some steaks–the first time of the season! Pat was happy to be the grill master because he had stuff to burn up (I don’t ask questions). While I always enjoy meals other people cook, grilling was really a winner for me. We have an indoor grill I could have used, but nothing beats a Webber. Except maybe a pit grill. I follow someone on Instagram who uses a pit grill (or maybe it’s a barrel grill? I don’t know) and it’s…intriguing….
Anyway, it is off to bed for me as I have to get up not too early for internet Church in the morning. Thank goodness for Zoom!
I feel your pain on the academic front. I am curious to see what the school comes up with. Hopefully we will find out this week. I understand they are going to be using Google Classroom. Mouse is getting in way more tablet time than I like, but with everything, I have let it go. We haven’t tried grocery pick up. Something to think about. I hope you and your family stay well and safe.
