First of all, I want to wish a Happy Thanksgiving to all of my American readers!  I hope that your day was blessed and delicious.

For this post, I did want to take a short break from my vacation photos to show you how our Thanksgiving (and Black Friday, which was not at all “commercial”) went down.

I started the day by earning this…

Yes, my friends…not only did I win NaNoWriMo this year, but I actually finished my novel!  It took my two Nanos to do it, but it is done.  Well, the “sucky” first draft, which is a stream of consciousness sort of thing, is done.  Now I can get down to the hard work of really planning and writing it!

As for the dinner itself, we had two of our close friends come over.  It has become a tradition to share the holiday with these friends and it is always a treat, not only because I don’t get to see them as often as I would like, but also because we can all discuss politics without fighting.

I did make the meal, and it was delicious.  Here is the “before” picture (don’t worry, there is no after picture of the carnage!)

What I do not have pictures of is Alice’s less that desirable behavior.  This included jumping on tables, jumping into the middle of a puzzle, and jumping onto my one friend’s lap for the sole purpose of hissing in her face.  Folks, the stories about this cat are all true!

I think she knew she was in trouble, because today she was quite contrite.  I really think she is pondering her bad choices in this picture.

As for Black Friday, we are not Black Friday people.  While everyone else was up before dawn to storm the stores, we slept until almost nine in the morning.  While I did make a gym run (because my dinner the night before was quite tasty!), the rest of the day was spent at home.  This kids and my hubs have been working on a puzzle and I’ve been reading Erin Morgenstern’s new book.
